Use of Artificial Intelligence
Our firm recognises that artificial intelligence (“AI”), including generative AI tools, can offer significant benefits in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and speed, ultimately serving the best interests of our clients. Accordingly, we may make limited and appropriate use of AI technologies when carrying out work in connection with matters you instruct us to handle.
Any use of AI by the firm is conducted in strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU Artificial Intelligence Act), Law 4961/2022 (Regulating the use of emerging information and communication technologies in the public and private sectors), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – Regulation (EU) 2016/679), and our professional and ethical obligations as legal practitioners, in particular those relating to confidentiality, professional secrecy, data protection, and intellectual property rights.
Where AI systems are used, the firm ensures that such systems are deployed lawfully, transparently, and responsibly, and that appropriate technical and organisational measures are in place to safeguard confidentiality, security, and data integrity. Information provided to or processed through AI tools will be treated as confidential, stored securely, and will not be used to train AI models or for any purpose unrelated to the relevant client engagement.
To the extent that personal data may be processed through AI tools, such processing will be carried out on a lawful basis under the GDPR, in accordance with the principles of data minimisation, purpose limitation, and security. The firm does not rely on AI systems to carry out automated decision-making or profiling producing legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
Clients remain in full control of whether and how AI is used in connection with their matters. If you do not wish us to use AI, including generative AI, in the preparation of attorney or paralegal work products, or if you wish to impose specific restrictions on such use, please notify us in writing. We will comply with any reasonable instructions or limitations you provide. Where we are instructed not to use generative AI in relation to your confidential information, we will not do so.
Where AI tools are used to assist in the preparation of attorney or paralegal work products (excluding purely administrative or operational tasks), all outputs are subject to careful human oversight. Such work products will always be reviewed, validated, and, where necessary, revised by a qualified paralegal or attorney, as appropriate, before being issued to you, filed with an intellectual property office, or shared with any third party. This ensures meaningful human involvement, in line with the EU AI Act, and that professional legal judgment remains decisive.
Our use of AI is intended solely to support legal analysis and service delivery and does not replace human expertise, accountability, or professional responsibility. The firm remains fully responsible for all advice, filings, and work products provided to clients, irrespective of any AI assistance used in their preparation.
